of sailor things i've been jotting down this past week -

- - -

sailor came in with dirt smeared on her face and shirt and i realized she was trying to roll the overloaded trash can out to the road by herself.

'wow. that's a big job. mom will help you with that.' i said wanting to be positive at her effort and not discourage her for trying on her own. but not really wanting the can to tip over because of her effort.
'would you like another job instead?'

she went off to feed bucket. and then i looked out again and inch by inch she is creeping the trash can out to the road. she did it.

then she wanted to help me get ready. she packed the diaper bag.
diapers for ben.
wipes.
climbed up on the counter to the cupboard for a sippy cup.
filled it up with cold water from the pitcher in the 'frig. -

'its okay mom. it will be regular water soon'

then she packed up a snack lunch for them.
she spent five minutes doing her best to open the new box of wheat thins, all the while informing ben that he was not going to get any once she got them opened -

'we have already had breakfast and this is for our lunch. we are not having a snack now.'

'i'm sorry this is taking so long mom.'

'you could get some raisins for benny.'

'oh yes, oh yes. thats a - that's a great idea mom.'

'now what else?'

'well, would you like a purse or anything?'

'no, felicity has lots of toys.'

'ben wanted to sit is jack's seat. so i buckled him in.'

benny grinning ear to ear, swinging his feet at his perceived victory.

she asked me how old i was the other day. i told her.

'and on your next birthday after you're 29 you'll be 20-10'

i can see how in her mind it would make sense  : )  but we started a counting lesson - learning about 20's, 30's, 40's and so on. she went all the way to 100.

- - -

'do you know what i like the best?'

   'tell me.' i said.

'princess things. but do you know the vEry best thing i would like? 2 velcro blinking princess shoes - in my size.'

   'hum.'

- - -

'wow! jack mildly put that away.'

- - -

'well i have directly ate all my lunch.'

- - -

'here's the deal - i went up to her & said 'do you know what i learned to do?' and she said no, but i like exciting news. 'i learned how to ride my bike without training wheels!'  . . . .
