sailor told me yesterday that she really didn't like the writing part of school. bummer for her i thought! but we pulled the day around when i left her to write alone while i cleaned up the kitchen. she told me she thought she did a much better job when i wasn't sitting by her. that is just bonus all the way around. and she was right - her letters were really very good once i left.
jack did some school with us last week. we read from his cubbie book a story about gigi the giraffe. giraffe's grow to be 18 feet tall. we measured jack - he is 3 ft 3 in. giraffes are wAy waY much taller : )
with the weather changes comes the need for closet cleaning. rex dressed molly the other day and told me that he put a 3-6 month shirt on her, 12 mon. pants, 0-3 sweater and no joke, her socks - one foot had 2/3 toddler the other 4/5 toddler! well she is the fourth kid : ) and we were trying to come up with something warm for her. adding insult to injury that day 4 different people told me how cute he was. so one of my goals for this week is some closet cleaning - really at 2 years old benny has outgrown 6-12 month size shirts. and jeans that look like capris are not as cute on 3 year old boys.
sailor's gifts to rex for his birthday this year were a paper airplane and a pumpkin that she wrote happy birthday with a sharpie. her love offerings are always uniquely creative. he wanted chinese food for his birthday and his little slip from the fortune cookie really happened so i think he liked his birthday ; )
our attempt at scarecrow making! its problem is its head : ) we had an old white feed sack but that just looked all wrong once we put it up . . . so its kind of headless with an old cowboy hat on top. i don't really think he'll last the week!
i slowed almost to a complete stop on the road today - for turkeys! they just kept walking straight into the road - i let them live . . . thanksgiving's coming.
i haven't done very good on laundry lately. in the last few loads i've washed a chocolate bar, a diaper and a work check - all of which disolve into millions of messy bits. i wrote myself a note above the washer that says 'check his pockets'. rex thinks its alittle unfair in that he doesn't keep diapers in his pockets. i felt like pilate 'what i have written i have written' !!!
i told myself i'd stay inside and fold laundry while the kids fell asleep then i'd go out and exercise. they've been quiet for awhile now and the clothes are folded . . .
mr. richard is the only other person that lives on our side of the road. he's never been married - never had kids. over the last 5 years he has slowly warmed up and now no longer worries himself into a heart attack around these guys - now they ride along with him in his gator checking the progress of harvest. good times.
