i might be waiting till next month for hot water to take a shower . . . after laundry, dishes & baths all around.  i'm willing to wait - running out of hot water is not my idea of a good time.

so here i am still wearing flip-flops with socks at 10:45 at night.
yes i know the title says morning - its taken that long to post.
and somehow all the things that were supposed to go into this post are no longer in my head.
my favorite line from sailor today was - 'oh, there's my rat!' i washed her plastic rat on accident and thankfully it fell out of the dryer without me touching it.  it's disgusting and after dancing silly & wild to mexican music tonight she decided to name it pacho.  yes, i know  . . . it's one of those you-had-to-have-been-there moments : ) it's ok if you don't get it.
i read her the story of Job tonight for the 1st time.  children's bible story books don't have his story & its a good one.  it was one of those precious & humbling parenting moments - she'd never heard the story before. i read it straight from the bible and yes, we skimmed over the friends speeches!  when do you remember not knowing the story of Job . . . it doesn't get the press like noah, goliath or the good samaritan.

about those other events -
our morning started out pretty put together. every one was up, dressed, fed and outside by 9. the table was cleared, the floor was swept, dishwasher started, i was even dressed.  impressive considering there are days when some of those things don't happen at all.  well the kids eating, that happens daily - me getting dressed is another story : )

but somewhere between feeding regan, sailor's math video, molly wanting to brush her teeth with the entire tube of toothpaste, jack coming in to tell me ben needed clean pants, chainsaw oil spilling, phone calls  . . . the morning had suddenly become one of those where at every turn there seemed some crisis that needed immediate attention and yeah that's when i realized benny was not around.  his overall's were by the grass, boots by the hose, trike by the chicken pen - but he was gone.

ben and potty training might as well be an oxymoron - they just haven't gone together very well.  he's made himself physically sick over it. he's had raw & bleeding rashes. he avoids the subject. he's had nothing to prove in the matter.  so we went with the nothing to prove method too and resigned to yes, we have 3 kids in diapers.  the last little bit he's made some big progress.  but it's not over yet, so . . .

i found him coming back down the road in nothing but his shirt & muddy socks holding his wet underoo's. he had gone looking for daddy. he was crying. i scooped him up and told him he was safe. he was emotionally spent, just spent.  i did not count how many times we changed his underwear today.  i just gave him alot of love.
