nice how i forgot to wear an earring on the bottom, isn't it : )

- - -

drink orange juice!  that was what i did last night instead of cleaning up the kitchen. and then this morning jacky asked why i was slicing bagels at the table instead of the usual cutting board .....

not one square inch of space is available on the counters ... that's why!

but the orange juice was delicious -

it was actually a thrifty move on my part ... buying the oj instead of going to starbucks.  i can enjoy lots of glasses vs one starbucks.

thrifty yes.

reality is i am a terrible grocery shopper.  rex even agreed. i like to .... i am just not good at it.  he consoles me that i have other talents & its ok to not be good at everything : )

popcorn was the first thing on the list and i forgot it. i bought another tub of cottage cheese when there was an unopened one in the frig still. i forgot sour cream & bought orange juice .... not on the list.

and now you know one more not so great fact about me.

from a morning at the park with the little sister friends one day this week.

this has been vacation bible school week.  a full week of get up (more realistically get woke up) eat, dress, leave, be somewhere by 8:40am.  this picture was the first morning, first day with molly standing in ... you can see ben is not quite fully awake!

i've stayed & watched the first little bit each morning.  i cry at things like this ... well not really cry cry but eyes kinda fill up cry & i text rex asking why do i do that : )

maybe 'cause its just beautiful & the people there love Jesus and are loving my kids and speaking such truth to them that i can't help it ....

for years & years before i was married and then before we had kids i taught sunday school classes, awana groups, i did vbs weeks & summers of childrens seminars.  i enjoyed it, i really did. i loved the kids.

and when parents would come & say thank you and leave notes & say we really appreciate it & thank you again .... i'd always respond with you're welcome, no problem, our pleasure, no big deal, any time ....

fast forward now & i'm the parent dropping off my kids in sunday school & awana & vbs. and i'm the one saying thank you, writing notes, saying how much we appreciate what they've done.

i get now what those parents really meant when they said thank you. i get how grateful they really were. i get the look in their eyes that said their kids meant everything to them & it really was a big deal.

and when the girl with the still tiny waist, name tag around her neck & sign-in clipboard in her hand says sure you're welcome, no problem - she's sincere but she really doesn't get it. but that's ok 'cause she still loves Jesus & has spent a whole week showing that love to my kids.

maybe that's why i tear up a little : )

maybe rex will think a late night kitchen clean up date sounds like a good plan for a friday night .... maybe. with appropriate kitchen cleaning date clothing required & glasses of orange juice, of course ; )

time to go.

i'm walking through my bombed kitchen, on my way with those thank you notes to pick them up and probably spent the rest of the day poolside .....

happy weekend -
