ode to summer.

tonight there is a great breeze. we've already been to ice cream & back. the kitchen is cleaned. and i even cleaned out the girls closet, getting rid of dresses that say size 12 months and even hanging them all organized by colors : )

all this and it's only 7:57pm.

how is this possible!! on 'normal' nights having dinner done by this time would be something.

i haven't been much in the posting mood.

pictures lately have turned out like this -

no amount of sharpening or great lighting effects help these type of shots : )

i'd say we've been busy - but reread the second paragraph and you'll remember we've lately had time for all sorts of summer nothing-ness.

it's been great. so un-normal. days & nights & weekends of 'what should we do's?' we're not bored, we're not wasting time - we're just not rushed, hurried or overbooked.

really we've spent a lot of of our summer like this -

and this.

random facts fyi include:

rex found a pair of sunglasses for me on our front porch. we think the traveling educational book salesman left them - which in itself could have been a whole post.  not much makes us truly mad at each other & for some seriously stupid reasons the salesman did .... no worries, by the end of the night everything was back to right.

my zinnias are not the flourishing patches of color they've been in years past ... somehow i think they were mis-marked 'cause they're blooming, they're just not very tall.  it also never helps when little girls 'pick' them either ....

sailor turns 8 on friday. ladies at bible study today we talking how their kids are turning 16 & getting drivers permits - saying again how quick it goes.  that is another lifetime away for us, 8 more years from now.

really its the start of a month of birthdays around here - with our anniversary thrown in the mix coming up.

jack & molly, who are feeling slightly left out in the whole birthday department are busy making their lists & plans, too.

if i were keeping 'baby books' i'd record things like right now the kids are into - cheerios mixed with yogurt for breakfast, loosing flip flops, speaking 'spanish', playing with playmoblies, living in the pool, taking purses everywhere we go & dreaming of birthdays .... and more swimming!

just to name a few : )

one last snap from tonight's ice cream trip - we had $8 dollars in coupons, we got a total of 9 scoops, it being dollar scoop night & when we left rex thought the whole trip was only worth the $1 we actually paid.

good times baby, good times : )
