i'm sitting here at the desk eating wheat thins & hummus. the little girls are sleeping ... or at least i think they are - if they aren't i can't hear them over the hum of the air conditioner running in our room. sailor, jack & benny are out working in the nice hot sun saving their outside world from their dad's threat to back the trailer up, load everything up & make a dump run. the play house & fort house haven't looked so good in a long time. otter pops have helped keep them working. i love how the boys begged to keep their old football - its ripped, torn & doesn't hold air but they still like to 'play football' - it has been saved from the trash. there is also the motivation to get done before dad gets home so we can go school supply shopping. sailor so kindly asked if i wouldn't go by myself but if they could go too. she's thinking up what kind of writing journal she'll have this year - hello kitty, princess, rainbows ... the possibilities are endless. she's making a good case for the need of colored pencils too. the problem with all this is i'm a total sucker for school supplies ... really how can you resist new boxes of crayons & fresh binders & folders. totally makes spelling tests more doable when they get put in some great new folder. i'm surfing free websites & about all that's left of the hummus is the extra glaric-y part so my breath is pretty fresh : )
i heard baby's heartbeat today at my appointment. i did say i'd talk more about baby, didn't i? ..... its not going to be today. we treated ourselves to a starbucks on the way home.
regan woke up this morning burning hot with a fever. i felt bad for her but the way she needed extra loves was beautiful. she didn't even want breakfast so we just sat & rocked & read library books to the kids. i was glad it was today & not tomorrow when we have to get up & go - a family trip .... minus rex .... to the dentist is planned. who does that? takes 5 kids to the dentist at one time plus gets their own teeth cleaned at the same time! yep that will be us : )

rooski's new thing is telling secrets - she gets right close to your ear & whispers sweet gibberish & then waits for you to pull back and exclaim wow! then she pulls you back & does it again ... and again ... and again : ) sometimes she'll throw in a kiss.

we're still swimming. and finally regs has decided she must be in the water. the other night it was close to 8pm, she was shivering with cold and did not want to get out. rex has taught her to hold on to the edge by herself.
they also played their own version of sharks & minos. regan was the shark (with a little bit of help) jack was the mino : )
