Thursday March 15, 2007

i went to court yesterday - had to appear before the judge and plead guilty or not guilty.  it was really quite the experience. walking in reminded me of places like the dmv or social security offices - vast ammounts of humanity. for every sign stating you couldn't use a cell phone there were 3 people talking on one.  it's the type of place and situation that has a real leveling affect. it really doesn't matter what kind of hurry you are in, or how important you think you are.  you must wait in the same long lines, you must answer the same questions - in reality you're just as guilty as the next guy. you're all there because you've done something wrong. maybe not 'as wrong' in your opinion - but still wrong.  we were even told to 'check our attitudes in at the door'. that kind of made me smile (inwardly) get over yourself the bailiff was telling us.

so finally it was my turn. i showed him evidence that i'd corrected my wrong, told him i'd 'like' (very relative term) traffic school and he told me i could go to window 5.  ahh!  all for rolling through a stop sign - my very first ticket ever! more than the silly ticket it was a good object lesson - a reminder of what Christ did for me, especially with easter coming.   '. . . . for we must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ .. ..  ' . . . don't give up - its not the end - there's hope for every fallen man - you can pick yourself up when you think you can't - 'cause with every passing second comes a second chance . . . ' relient K
