just got back from an unexpected walk down the road. bucket wanted to go on a bike ride, too. he was well enough to run down the road and since i didn't want to stand out front of the boys window and call for him - i ran after him. i needed to get to him before he got to 132. anyway, we, the dog & i, are back now : )

one day of not putting pajama's away when getting dressed, not unloading the dishwasher, not closing cupboard doors, not wiping off the table or picking laundry up from the hallway floor - can lead very quickly to mess, mess, mess! none of that and then some happened yesterday. i have spent today recovering. the boys really wanted to help. cleaning the toilet was fascinating. benny got a bang out of wacking on the blinds while i cleaned them. jack like the vacuum.
'hep, mommy, hep.'
with all my 'help' by the time i made it to the kitchen i was out of steam. so the burning questions are - should i finish or do we just go out? what are we going to do with our first free weekend? saturday morning donuts? haircuts for the guys? shopping? yathzee tournament? date?
ah - what do to!

my little miss twinks is on her 4th outfit of the day. each change has been a complete makeover. headbands, tights, shoes, skirts, shirts - it has been something new every time. and that does not include the coats. they were really hoping for rain this morning. they got their raincoats on - snapped up & hoods on. she switched to his, then back to her's with red sparkly shoes, then it was pink cowboy boots. currently its an old too-small dress that the mailady told her she 'looked awfully cute in.' so at lunch she told me how 'awful' her dress was : ) maybe if i'd have gone with her first plan and been 'matching birds' with her, her closet would not have been a revolving dressing room. just love her!

he left his cellphone at the gym this morning. after thinking the worst when i hadn't heard from him all morning - i got his message. somehow no communication makes the day longer, no calls or text messages. but in one of my lonesome moments i thought - there has got to be alot of other wives across the country that are missing their men. except their men aren't coming home tonight - they are overseas, they are soldiers. i ended my slight pity party thinking there has got to be one wife somewhere who is trying to potty train a two year old little boy - the only difference is his daddy isn't coming home tonight for his mom to share all about her day.
he did come home tonight, he does have his phone again and our flag flies realizing that freedom comes with a high cost.

'Who are we, that You would be mindful of us?
What do You see, that's worth looking our way?
We are free, in ways that we never should be
Sweet release from the grip of these chains
Like hinges straining from the weight
My heart no longer can keep from singing
All that is within me cries
For You alone be glorified
Immanuel
God with us
My heart sings a brand new song
The debt is paid; these chains are gone
Immanuel
God with us
Lord, You know our hearts don't deserve Your glory
But still You show love we cannot afford
Like hinges straining from the weight
My heart no longer can keep from singing
All that is within me cries
For You alone be glorified
Immanuel
God with us
My heart sings a brand new song
The debt is paid; these chains are gone
Immanuel
God with us
Such a tiny offering
Compared to Calvary
But, nevertheless
We lay it at Your feet
All that is within me cries
For You alone be glorified
Immanuel
God with us
My heart sings a brand new song
My debt is paid; these chains are gone
Immanuel
God with us' - mercy me
of course i am liking the new mercy me song. ben & girly are learning to like it too.
