he came home earlier than expected on saturday. they were all playing outside - i was still cleaning up the kitchen. we drank milk and ate warm cookies. then i took the camara and we headed out to join them. this is how she was -
i wish i could say she had the fashion sence of either one of her aunts. but she's alot like me : ) and my fashion doesn't compare with the aunts! she sat there by her bike with all her 'tools' lined up next to her. she's wearing her dad's hat 'cause her head was cold'. the dress was actually theresa's. (long before we were even old enough to be mothers i saved it for *sailor*) so i admit that her sence of fashion (& mine, since thats where she gets her's from!!) has room for improvement - but i sat down next to her and listened to and shot part of her world - i'm biased, but its beautiful ~
today while the boys played outside for hours, she was in & out giving me detailed instructions on how to take care of 'shopper'. first she needed to sleep - 'she was very tired and fell asleep in my arms at the park.' 'she is 1 and potty trained & in her bag was a little cow that had m&m's for treats.' 'the bag is hanging on her bed.' 'she sits in her highchair for lunch.' 'she might cry when her bottle is gone.' 'she takes another nap at 4:87.' ' i will be back at 8:09.' on her 15th trip in to check on me and how i was doing she was delighted to see that shopper was up from her nap and looking at the sunday school papers : )
with all my heart i love this little girl -

in other news, giving credit where credit is due - many of the pictures in the last several posts have been shot by rex. he's really very good at very many things.
yesterday at church 4 different women commented on my pregnancy for the first time. one, pointing at my stomach, straight out asked if i was pregnant : ) another asked if this was number three. one wondered if i was due in august . . . ahhh lovely ladies!!
my mom went along with my idea and actually won tickets to the concert sunday night. i had decided the only way it was going to work would be to win tickets & and what really were the odds . . . . very excited and thanks, mom.
i don't know why i've taken to sweeping the porch right now. its fall and windy and the leaves are falling. yet i feel the need to have a clean back porch. i'm reminding myself of the old lady down the street from my inlaws who faithful sweeps every last leaf out of her driveway, sidewalk & gutter!
i let my coupon for chocolate chips expire - craziness and i am almost out!! : )
i'm hoping the wind keeps up. the leaves falling almost sound like rain out the open window in our room. yes, the window is still open - it will be for awhile, i'm sure. its a good sound. the sound of actual rain would be nice tonight, too.
i saved a coupon for the olive garden from the paper. it sounds good. so does corn chowder and warm brownies - won't be tonight . . .
our bedspread is clean and fresh. alittle spring cleaning in october!!(no, i am not nesting yet : ) i like making a bed that from the mattress pad to pillow shams is clean.
was reminded & challanged today not to a parent for 'looks' or for 'me'. ah - that is convicting. it was especially important remembering how last week we were complemented on how well one of them obeyed. it came from a respectable person and we felt good. but i don't want obedient, well behaved children for 'display' purposes only or for how they make me look. we must be authentic & intentional. we are training them, not for ourselves but for Christ. they are not trophy's for our mantle - the picture is much bigger than that. and i don't want to get in the way. we answer to the Lord, we fear Him. not man, not what man thinks or assumes. in doing everything we can to make sure our kids know Christ, i was again reminded that He knows my heart and motives and they need to be right.
he came home early - i shared a few of my frozen chocolate chips and other treats with him.
amie comes home sunday ~
its a school night - wondering what to do for dinner . . something in the oven sounds homey, warm & good.
