for me - he bought an external flash, made a wooden box & wrapped it with a red bow. he called me out to the garage and there it sat on his work bench with sawdust all around. happy christmas : ) i'm excited!

i can see how easy/convenient/nice it would be (is!) to just have the month of december off from school. we are slowly morphing into that : ) yesterday though, sailor made trips in & out asking me different numbers - still working on remembering the 1 comes first then the zero for the number 10 and so on . . . then she wanted me to come see her work. a caterpillar - she said. darling - i said. even with the backwards 7 & yes merry christmas up top is a ty-po. i think december school will be things like chalk caterpillars, gingerbread houses at aunt robins and library days.

while sailor drew clockface people - ben did his best with pillars & his plastic saw to cut the leftover christmas tree. 'hit not worting' - he told me. jack got excited about the junk mail and showed me all the things he thought daddy would like for christmas on this page.
then they played.
here, they said, is where benny got a touchdown . . . ???
yes, its december and they are barefoot. i have decided being the shoe police doesn't pay enough.

shepherd stories -
on our way home from napa we passed a field of sheep. i thought jack was asking where the choppers were - but i finally got he was asking in his darling way where the shepherds were. sheep in the field obviously needed shepherds - like the shepherds that came to see baby Jesus.
i came into the girls room this morning to find sailor with her jammie shirt tied around her head & teddy swaddled up laying on her pillow. she was playing mary she told me. she didn't have a manger and the shepherds weren't there yet. molly was sitting in her crib happily watching the simple play.
up late again tonight! i have my own christmas presents to work on. and christmas cards - each day more come in the mail & each day i remember our's have not even been started. and molly's birthday - it is just 3 weeks till molly's birthday. always much to do . . . but i'm thinking of bundling up - i wear coats & shoes in december - and heading out to sit on the work bench and just be with him . . .
' . . . there were shepherds staying out in the fields and keeping watch over their flock by night. and an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them and the glory of the Lord shone around them and they were terribly frightened. but the angel said to them - do not be afraid for behold i bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people, for today in the city of david there has been born for you a Savior who is Christ the Lord. this will be a sign for you - you will find the baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger. and suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying - glory to God in the highest an on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased . . .
