Wednesday April 21, 2010

i am seriously wondering this afternoon how we made it through winter with all the rain?

i loved it, i remember. i don't remember really having cabin fever ... too bad.

but this afternoon i think our house is too small and our kids are too loud : )

i'm wishing i could just send them outside. the good thing ( i guess ) is they aren't asking to go out - they've played for hours with blocks.

right now i think they have almost gone through a ream of paper coloring & drawing.

elephants.
apples.
swing sets.
wharfs.

ben's scribbled pencil lines all over the page is rain, he said.

jack has turned his apple picture into a telescope.

sailor's race car didn't turn out so she turned it into thunder & lightening with little stick people all lined up at the bottom.

yesterday's weather was truly magnificent. i have tried making a point to not complain about the weather - everybody does it seems. its too hot or too cold or too windy or too much rain or not enough rain ....

i do think it'd be nice if they could go out - but i'm not complaining, just commenting maybe ; )

they did go out yesterday, or they were in & out.  muddy floors, changes of clothes.  but the hail was too much of a draw.

benny thought the thunder was loud.

the rain has inspired me to bake something - pretty much for the sole purpose of the house smelling good & warm : )

so there is pumpkin bread waiting to go in the oven ... i'm waiting a bit longer so it will be nice and 'smelly' when rex gets home.

the boys have moved on from coloring to carrying each other from one couch to the other  -  if i had a dime for every time i've said 'inside voice' today, or just a nickel ....

... i'd go shopping : )

really in spite of their volume i'm proud of their contentment.

and remarkably molly & regan are sleeping through it.

my mother's confession of the day -

i sat all 5 of them down in from of sesame street this morning & took a hot shower.

regan by far is the youngest to have experienced elmo : )

speaking of cozy & homey ... we got 4 real letters in the mail the other day.   no bills or junk, just cheerful happy mail.

the telescope is now a paper airplane - that doesn't really fly all that well.  but it sure can do a good dive bomb.

this post was written in real time ... can you tell : )

happy april showers.
