amie said she had candles burning & she was drinking lemon tea.
the tea didn't sound good - but the burning candles ....
there is something very fall-ish about that.
so instead of taking the entire family out to the mall tonight - i took a shower & we have lit candles in nearly every room. ben especially is tickled over the one burning in the boys room on their dresser - the pictures of their faces reflect in the flames. molly thinks we should be singing happy birthday to someone with all these candles : )
it looks stormy outside.
yesterday morning it was still dark-ish (i wasn't up that early : ) but still dark enough to justify plugging in the twinkle lights in our room & turning on the single light bulb above the kitchen sink. we made brownies for miss val so early on the house smelled good.
it would have been perfect if rex & i could have slept in ....
but tonight he is here. we didn't go to awana tonight - the kids don't even realize its wednesday night. they are in the kitchen making cookies.
running inspires me. it inspires me to steam broccoli & smile when i see my boys playing out the kitchen window.
listening to mac powell line the words to this song too added to the greatness of my rex-is-almost-home moment.
turn the music down @ the bottom and go ahead and play it loud over & over ....
'i fink when i grow up molly will be my mommy.' ben
'no, i'll still be your mom, benny.'
'when we grow up you will be dead.' ben
'then your kids will not have a grandma.' sailor
'sailor is the best spelling tester.' ben

in case i wondered how i looked to my kids : )
i asked sailor what i was wearing & she replied 'your boxers' right. my boxers. i'm pretty sure that black thing in my hair is my hair clipped up - a standard hairstyle .... especially when wearing boxers. but the color of my hair .... is .... quite shocking
and then there is 2 year old fashion. the more stripes & polka-dots the better.
watching a game of red light green light -
this game of red light green light -
i need to ask robin & mom what was the worst thing rex & i ruined when we were kids ....
the last 48 hours around here have seen -
part of the screen door break
the dishwasher rack break off .... consequently breaking glass
the white board drawn on with sharpie markers & not dry erase markers
but by far the worse was this ....
apparently the whole silage under white tarp like plastic tube thing is way more expensive than i ever thought, they cost approximately $15,000 - the damage our kids did to this feed bag in particular with a file from the shop was around five grand i was informed. they are supposed to be air tight and mold really takes away from the nutritional value of the feed. needless to say our morning did not go as planned & instead we spent it doing our best to patch the gashes, holes & pokes.
yeah .... concepts like 'we're in big trouble' & 'respecting other peoples property' were real hot topics today.
i was not going to take pictures - really i didn't. not when we were working. not when it was warm in the sun & the flies were everywhere & we were covered in dust and dirt & we sat on top of that for hours taping holes. but later the whole you'll-really-end-up-wanting-to-remember-this kicked in & i went out right before it was too dark ....
and its just wednesday

gonna blow out the candles now & call it an early night.
..... let me remember the great mercy of my God .....
