it never snowed : ) rex was half way secretly hoping it would at least rain. at around 6:40am on 'run days' you seriously question if its a good idea to wake kids up and take them out ... you question whether you even want to leave the warmth of the down comforter for a sports bra & running shoes!
but we do, baby. we might question but we get up, we layer up, this morning we packed crazy amounts of jackets & blankets and we headed out.
yep, it was cold ... the almond blossoms say spring, the 37 degrees said winter.
our runners -
doodle was cold.
i know i've said it before - but i just cry every time. benny, regan & i waited till we saw them coming and ben started yelling - 'go sailor! go jack!' and i snapped a couple pictures then set the camera down and cheered & cried ... well not totally crying my tears might have passed for watery eyes from the cold & wind .... : ) sailor placed this race, finishing second in her age division. jack came in 4th in his - he was so crushed to not get a medal. they both ran close to a 9.11 minute mile.
and then we saw dolly and that cold & wind hit my eyes all over again! she came in 10th in her age group ... which was pretty much dead last - but my girl did it, her first whole mile in about 15 minutes.
the original plan was i was going to run with them since rex was going to have had to work - but since last minute that changed, i changed races last minute.
dolly & i after i came in -

in good small town fashion we headed over to main street for the annual parade. we had hot chocolate & egg burritos. we set out chairs & huddled under blankets. we waved to the homecoming queen & the firemen. we took fliers for free tai kwon do lessons and candy from the silly clowns. somehow our spot this year was not in line with where the marching bands were supposed to play 'cause they mostly stopped playing 1/2 a block from us. and my favorite part was ...
these guys : )
score! on girl scout cookies.

we are home now & even though our saturday morning was not lazy our saturday night is : ) hot showers, rubber ducks in the tub, unmade beds, uggs, a hodge podge dinner, a movie after we get the kids in bed.
the sun is setting. the clouds are pink. and God is good.
