'it's been a busy rain day.' - jack said as he stood looking out the window ... not that the rain has stopped them, they have been in & out as often as the rain.
its june & the driveway has been wet most of the day from rain. the front door's been open & it has smelled so fresh.
at the same time the breeze blowing through the open laundry room window is actually cool .... cold almost at times making me want to wrap up in the warm laundry i was folding.
i wanted a warm casserole last night for dinner. something with noodles. something cheesy. something creamy. something hot & steaming coming out of the oven .... rex laughed since it was 5:30 when i was moaning for that. no, i don't plan very well.
we ended up making biscuits & gravy instead. his gravy turned out good - my biscuits turned out good.
i never have room temperature butter, do you? its either frozen or in a puddle under the lid of the dish.
well yesterday i guess i had a little bit left .... but the biscuits called for 2 cubes - everything's better with butter! and you know how there is no good way to speed the process from frozen to room temp.
the hot stove doesn't work well, neither does the 5 seconds rotating each side in the microwave. i had rex hold it in his hands for awhile & that worked well enough ....
till the hot biscuits came out of the oven & there was no butter for them : )
so like i said .... never spreadable butter handy.
with no school, rainy weather & going bad bananas we made chocolate banana bars this morning.
yes i know, they sound terrible - chocolate & bananas should never be together & i don't like bananas. but something about these aren't terrible.
they are sitting in the big pan on the stove now with a knife laying beside them slowly being carved at each time a little person walks by.
and there is my cooking news : ) other than yes, dinner is in the oven & we had leftover pizza for lunch.
