To .... The First Post of the Year, Trying Again & One Extra Long Weekend -

- There are fresh daffodils on my dresser .... Rex bought them for me.

-  Our bed was made & the down comforter was puffy and not mashed and the daffodils are in a funky glass vase.

- We ate magnum chocolate bars for the first time since June - seriously.

-  It might as well be June for how pleasant the weather has been .... it was close to 70.

- Sailor had an impromptu speech in class on Tuesday. The topic she was given was if you could go anywhere in the world where would you go? Do you know what she said? Home. She said she'd go home & then gave her reasons why. It made me smile ..... I think it was slightly influenced by the previous 6 days away from home :)

- The boys got a late Christmas present tonight. New Legos. They sat at the table after their showers, wet hair all combed, with white t-shirts on & built them. Then they took them to their room & played. Brothers are so fantastic.

- At the park the other day, while we were waiting for Sailor at piano, Regan came & asked if I'd push them on the merry-go-round. She said it like this 'can you spin we around! Please!' I could not say no.

- I scrolled through old Instagram pictures the other day ..... life is sweet.

- I sharpied the word TRY on Jack's arm the other day .... it's going to be his word of the year. Try again. Try grace. Try truth. Try self-control. Try love. Try. Try. Try.

- I'm so grateful that time heals. It heals hurts & wounds & gives perspective.

- My header .... you're wondering. Yes, it's gone - not really on purpose. See I had this idea that with the new year, the blog should have a look. It didn't work. At all. So much so that I couldn't even get the old one back. Blogger has lost some of my easily bought loyalty.

- We were together for a whole 5 days last week.  Seriously 5 days. I don't think we'd been gone both of us, together, without kids, since before Chad was born. Him yes. Me yes. Us no.

It was this funky mix of business & pleasure, plus family. But it was us. In airports & layovers & rental cars & old-school dorm rooms & random towns on banks of a frozen Lake Erie.

And it was us & it was good. Sweet good.

every now & then my hair color shocks even me ..... :0

There was no way to be that close & not see her. So we did :) She is super.
