Of Power Outages -
- - -
I threw a diaper away in the outside trash can on King Ave yesterday. Sailor followed me out, down the steps, around the corner, through the gate, along the stone wall .... 'I love this place' - I told her. She looked at me with a 'mom, it's just a trash can' sort of look on her face.
I smiled & laughed.
Nope, it's so much more.
It's changed. It used to be Grandma's house - pretty front room, green couch, small kitchen, back deck, awesome front door, Christmas dinners.
For years & years now it's been my aunts. It looks nothing like grandmas house did - other than the street numbers.
It's beautiful now. It hold memories and love and heritage. And I love going back every chance I can.
It was beautiful then too .... and I'm not sure why I typed all that other than I was having a sentimental moment - that and my beautiful aunt goes on&on about how i blog (as if I speak french or knit or something!), so she ought to get some press : )

The original topic of this post was the power outage on Friday night. An accident on the highway left us without power for hours.
The easy option was head to town & go out to eat - because oh.my.goodness. what are we going to fix for dinner without electricity!
Benny was all no worries over it saying we could just use the microwave instead of the oven : )
We would never have survived with the Ingalls family in the Long Winter!!
But option #2 was memory making & involved hot dogs and camp stoves & fire & marshmallows.
It ended up being a good choice. Everyone went to bed smelling of smoke & full of marshmallows. And no one cared that there was no water to clean up ... well except for me ... a little.
Baby wipes to the rescue :)

And if your looking for a theme song for the week ... here you go.
Feel free to turn it up.
'On the altar of our praise, let there be no higher name ....'

I adore the pigtail shadows!!!
I love the way you blog. :)
Fires and marshmallows are the best! and yes, memory makers. Such a fun family! :)
Thanks for the song...we're listening to it now while our cookies bake.
Your blog always makes me smile. And miss you which is weird since we've never met ... Maybe it makes me miss the fact I've never met you!! :)) and now I'm going to play that song (blaring) while I get ready for the day.
Happy happy Wednesday there to you and the gang. xo
