Of Giving Thanks & 4 Day Weekends & Remembering Life -

That was a long title, wasn't it : )

3 gifts. Go.

its december
rex bought me poinsettias
advent stories

I took pictures this weekend. On purpose.

Thanksgiving morning we held our very own Turkey Trot. We baked cinnamon rolls & watched the Macys Day Parade & invited friends & ran a 5K down our country road & canal with paper turkey centerpieces on our heads : )

Flag football was next. Our family vs theirs.

dad was the referee ... he also cleared the field :)

our players warming up

chad was more of a mascot than a player ... automatic 1st down for running into him :)

3rd & goal & we score :)

I slept in Friday morning .... they could only stay away for so long : )
He cooked bacon & really did go to Home Depot at 4am for 99 cent poinsettias for me.

Christmas tree hunting is officially overrated. Last year Rex & I just bought one without the kids, next year I'm ok if they go without me : )

Yes, yes ... it's an experience & family & tradition ..... but California has not got the 'it's winter' memo & it was too hot, Ben had no problem telling the dressed up Santa that he was not real and Regan followed him all over saying hi and robbing him blind of his stash of candy canes. In the end Sailor picked our tree. It was $25 cheaper than what we were planning to spend so even though we have different tree styles it was a deal :)

she says she wasn't yawning because she was bored ....

then she smiled to prove her point :)

The boys took care of getting the tree off the roof - Chad took over on the ground.

It's inside & lit & has ornaments clumped together at 5 year old level & it's beautiful.

grammy & grandpa went north for the week .... so we wished them happy thanksgiving with the cousins via technology

every holiday should have a meal with a table just for cousins : )
yes. i get to be her sister in law. lucky me. grateful me.

I love Starbucks. I don't drink coffee. I always, every single time buy a double chocolate chip cream frappuccino. I never, ever buy any for the kids. They know it ... they don't even ask. It's moms treat.

But when you go on a mini road trip with grandpa .....

He bought them all their own drink : )

we met the newest little cousin ....

Then they asked for a cousin picture. They bribed our kids with candy canes & thought we'd all fit on the couch. Mom & the aunts stood on the other side of the room with their phones as cameras and took pictures & cried & said we were beautiful & wished all their other kids could have been there too : )

This morning they all came walking out wrapped up with blankets & quilts and sang us the 5 Christmas songs they knew well. The picture is blurry but it was beautiful.

Merry Christmas ....
Advent is here.
Celebrate Him.

That is the most awesome 5k and football game I've ever heard of!!! No joke.
I could name a few overrated activities that I'm fine if Tim takes the kids without me. I get that.
So happy to come here and read your blog Alli. I love the way you capture LIFE.
happy first week of December!

Absolutely FULL of family and love! What a great thanksgiving weekend you've had.
Your family is beautiful, my favorite picture was the one of them on your bed after you had slept in "long enough"
God bless you!!

I'm happy you are blogging again, very happy:)

When you said Turkey Trot you really meant Turkey Trot! If I could wear a Turkey centerpiece on my head it might tempt me to try running.

Love you

Loved this post :-) We have an annual football game each Thanksgiving which is a pretty good deal so I loved your football pictures. This was our 10th annual official Fuller Bowl as we call it. I loved your "flags" :-) The first years we played we used red and blue bandanas. Now we have went to officially flag football belts but we might have to do socks because we ripped them up so much this year.

The turkey trot looked so fun! What a neat idea. I loved the turkey headbands/hats. Too fun!

Thanks for giving us a glimpse into all that is a blessing to you.

This sounds pretty awesome, as far as Thanksgivings go! I can't believe how big Chad has gotten. Wasn't he like, just born?? How are you so skinny?
Oh and my family is the same way about Starbucks. They know I'm the only one getting anything. Unless I take just one of them with me, then I get them something. I guess I like to send mixed signals.

I too am happy you are blogging again! Just caught up on your little happenings. Beautiful family. Sweet husband for waking up so early to shop for pointsettas.

Funny how Christmas tree hunting is so different. We were freezing in below zero temps, you were sweating in sunshine.

Such a fun turkey trot. Such a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Happy Monday to you. :)

I'm so happy you're blogging again!! It's great to see you back, and I cannot believe how your kids have changed!

Your Thanksgiving festivities look SO FUN! I LOVE that you get out and play flag football! My husband's family played fisbee football over the weekend, and wowee, for someone who's had three kids, it sure was a work-out! :) I need to do more of that!
